Sisters in the Making

Shayeli took a deep breath, still shaken from the previous encounter, but as she looked at the four fierce women standing before her, a sense of warmth spread through her chest. Their eyes held no malice—only curiosity and kindness.
Luna was the first to break the silence. "So, are you going to introduce yourself, or should we just keep calling you 'our damsel in distress'?" she teased with a smirk.
Shayeli let out a small laugh. "I'm Shayeli," she said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "And... thank you. I mean it."
Emma smiled. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Shayeli. I'm Emma."
"I'm Isabel," Isabel said with a proud tilt of her head.
"Olivia," the brunette chimed in, offering a small wave.
"And I'm Luna," Luna added. "And before you ask—no, we don't usually go around slapping random guys in cafés."
Shayeli chuckled. "Well, I think that was the best first impression anyone has ever made on me."
Olivia grinned. "Good, because we're here for more than just saving you."
Shayeli tilted her head in confusion. "Oh?"
Isabel leaned on the counter, flashing her a knowing smile. "Your café is pretty famous. We've been meaning to visit and see what's so special about it."
Luna nodded. "We figured we'd finally stop by, and now that we've met the owner, I guess we know why this place has such a great reputation."
Shayeli's face heated up slightly at their compliment. "Well, I hope you won't be disappointed."
Emma waved her off. "Doubt it. You already made a great first impression, so the coffee better live up to your reputation."
Shayeli smirked. "No pressure, huh?"
The girls laughed before heading to a booth near the window. Shayeli took their orders, her heart feeling lighter than it had all day.
—---
After a few minutes, Olivia called out to her. "Shayeli, come sit with us for a bit!"
Shayeli hesitated. "Oh, but I'm working—"
"Come on," Luna insisted, patting the seat next to her. "The place isn't crowded right now, right?"
Shayeli glanced around. It was true—the café was quiet, just as it always was around this time. She nodded and walked over, sliding into the seat.
"So," Isabel started, resting her chin on her palm. "You're not American, are you?"
Shayeli shook her head. "No, I'm from India."
Emma's eyes lit up. "That's amazing! India is such a beautiful country."
The girls exchanged glances before suddenly pressing their palms together and bowing slightly. "Namaste," they said in unison, grinning.
Shayeli's jaw dropped slightly before she burst into laughter. "Oh my god, you guys actually did that?"
Luna smirked. "Of course! We're cultured."
Shayeli couldn't help but smile. There was something so easy, so natural about being around them.
"So," Olivia continued. "You run this café all by yourself?"
Shayeli nodded. "Pretty much. It's my passion, and I love what I do."
Emma tilted her head. "That's impressive. A woman running a business on her own in a foreign country? That's badass."
Shayeli blushed at the compliment. "Well, it has its challenges, but I wouldn't trade it for anything."
Isabel leaned back. "We'll definitely be coming back here often, then."
Luna grinned. "Yeah, we should exchange numbers."
Shayeli nodded. "Oh, you can just take the café's number. If you ever need anything or want to visit, just call, and I'll be here."
Emma pouted. "Not your personal number?"
Shayeli chuckled. "Let's start with the café number first."
Olivia sighed dramatically. "Fine. But that means we'll be calling you a lot."
Shayeli laughed. "I'll be waiting."
As the girls continued chatting, Shayeli felt something shift inside her. Maybe, just maybe, she wasn't as alone as she thought.she felt surprisingly at ease with the four women sitting across from her. There was a warmth in their presence, a familiarity she hadn't expected from complete strangers. It almost felt like she was sitting with old friends.
Shayeli laughed, enjoying the easy banter. It had been so long since she had girl talk like this.
For the first time in a long while, she wasn't just the café owner or the woman struggling to stand on her own in a foreign land.
She was just Shayeli, sitting with four incredible women who had somehow walked into her life like a storm—chaotic, unpredictable, and full of energy.
And for the first time in a long time... she wasn't alone.
After spending a good time together, the four women finally stood up, smiling at Shayeli.
"We should get going," Olivia said, adjusting her bag.
"But don't think this is the last time you're seeing us," Isabel smirked. "We'll be back soon."
Luna grinned. "Yeah, we've taken a liking to this place. And you."
Emma gave a warm smile. "Take care, Shayeli. We'll visit again soon."
Shayeli smiled genuinely. "I'll be looking forward to it."
With that, they waved goodbye and left, leaving behind the faint echo of their laughter.

I watched them leave, feeling an odd warmth in my heart. They were... different. At first, I thought I should be careful—not get too comfortable with strangers—but they had this confidence, this aura that made it impossible to feel awkward around them.
Author: she didn't know that this treatment is only for her. 😜😉
Their presence was strong, yet comforting. Who were they, really?
I shook my head with a small smile and returned to work. The café wasn't too crowded, and since my worker was still on their lunch break, I had to handle things alone.
Just as I was wiping down a table, something caught my eye from the large glass window.
A car.
But not just any car.
That car.
A sleek, deep purple vehicle parked just across the street. It was the same one I had noticed before—the one that had pulled up when I was at the police station.
My hands slowed in their movement, my eyes narrowing slightly in curiosity.
Is he here?
I tried to get a glimpse of the driver, but just as I focused, the bell at the café entrance rang, pulling my attention away.
A few customers walked in, and duty called.
By the time I turned back toward the street, the car was gone.
I sighed, shaking my head. Maybe I was overthinking things.
